Brisbane City Hall

See Brisbane from a new perspective by journeying up City Hall's Clock Tower!

Located in King George Square, the city hall is a big part of Brisbane's history. Free, daily tours are on offer every 15mins between 10.15am and 4.45pm (plus extended hours until 6.45pm on Friday nights allowing an after-dark viewing!).  The tour takes you in the restored hand-operated lift to the observation deck at 73m.

Free guided tours of City Hall are also available seven days a week starting at 10.30am, 11.30am, 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm. This is a great way to learn about one of Brisbane's heritage-listed buildings and gain access to different parts of the building!

• The face of each clock (there are four!) is almost five metres wide, and the minute hands are 3m long!
• Four giant bells weighing over 3 tonnes chime every 15 minutes, and a 4.3-tonne bell strikes on the hour mark.
• It contains the oldest working manual elevator in Australia
• The tower is 92m high, and the observation deck is 73m high
• When it was built, it was the largest public clock and the most modern time-keeping piece in Australia
• The white opal clock face is held in place with over 1000 screws
• The tower was the tallest building in Brisbane until the 1960s
